HORNCHURCH 1 BRIMSDOWN ROVERS 2
Brimsdown fielded a very strong side, and had come very obviously fired up, as witnessed by the number of free kicks conceded. They took a third minute lead when AARON COLLINS, looking at least five yards offside, ran through to score, and some inspired goalkeeping by Ashley Harris kept them in the match, although he was fortunate when Dean Green shot wide of an open goal. KRIS LEE levelled the score with a good shot from the edge of the area, and Urchins continued to have the better of the play, with Green, Wall and Lee all forcing good saves out of Harris. Close to half time, Brimsdown took the lead from a disputed penalty, when a hard shot cannoned off a defender, and SCOTT ATKINSON put them ahead.

Second half saw Urchins have most of the territorial play, but they struggled to get shots on target. Green went close with a free kick after Wall was pulled down, and Paul Read was fortunate to escape with just a lecture following an incident involving Dean Green. A good pass from Lawrence Smith found Michael Ramkin and his cross to Lee found Harris again in good form with a diving save, and it was Harris who again made a spectacular save, diving backwards to clutch a goal bound lob from Dean Green who had weaved his way through. Brimsdown held out against strong pressure to become the first Capital League team to beat the Urchins at home since November 2005.
